Silestone Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

A full Silestone kitchen remodel in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on countertop square footage, cabinet scope, and whether you’re replacing or refacing. We install Silestone-compatible kitchens every week, and we stock the common profiles and edge treatments locally so you’re not waiting on a freight shipment from a distribution center in Orlando. Most owners call us when they’ve already spotted the problem: a seam that’s opened up near the sink, a corner that chipped from a dropped pan, or a sink cutout that’s started to look swollen and chalky around the rim.

We’re an independent Fort Lauderdale contractor, not a Silestone factory outlet. That means we’re free to tell you straight whether your existing slab is salvageable or whether a fresh Silestone layout makes more sense than chasing repairs on a surface that’s already lost its structural integrity.

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

Silestone runs several quartz lines, and they are not all the same to work with. The classic polished series (think Eternal Collection, known in older kitchens as the Series that included color codes like Blanco Zeus or Cemento Spa) machines clean and takes a factory edge without trouble. The suede and textured finishes are a different animal: they hide scratches well but they grip grout and caulk residue, which means old silicone beads pull the surface tint with them if you try to peel and re-seal. If your counters are more than about eight years old, check the underside near a sink cutout for the engraved lot number, usually a six-digit stamp starting with the year. That tells us which color run you have, because Silestone reformulates pigments across production years and a 2016 “White Zeus” will not match a 2023 slab of the same name.

One compatibility gotcha we see in Fort Lauderdale condos: Silestone slabs are typically 63 inches by 120 inches, so a long peninsula or an L-shaped run often requires a seam. Where that seam lands depends on your cabinet layout and whether the slab can be walked into the building without a crane. In older high-rises along the Galt Ocean Mile, we’ve had to split slabs and carry them up stairwells in sections, which changes the layout plan entirely. None of that shows up on a generic kitchen quote, and it’s exactly the kind of thing we figure out before the price lands in your hands.

Signs Your Silestone Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • A seam has opened up more than the width of a credit card. Quartz doesn’t flex like laminate, so a spreading seam usually means the cabinets underneath have settled or the original installer shimmed the slab instead of correcting the cabinet tops. Level the boxes first, then re-seam. Caulk alone won’t hold.
  • Water is pooling around the faucet base or sink rim. Silestone itself doesn’t absorb water, but the edge profiles and cutouts can. Once water works into the seam or the sink reveal, you get that grey, chalky bloom around the rim. That’s not staining, that’s moisture trapped between quartz and substrate.
  • Chips on the leading edge, especially at corners. A dropped cast-iron pan takes a bite out of quartz faster than people expect. Small chips can be filled with color-matched resin, but if the chip is on a radius corner, a patch job will always show under the right light. That’s when replacement makes sense.
  • The surface feels warm or soft under a hot pan spot. Quartz is heat-resistant, not heat-proof. Direct contact from a hot skillet above 300 degrees can scorch the resin binder and leave a dull, hazy ring that doesn’t polish out. We tell every client: trivets, always.
  • Drawers or doors under the counter are suddenly binding. If your slab is pulling away from the wall and leaning, or the cabinets beneath are racking from moisture or age, the quartz will eventually crack under its own weight. A full remodel isn’t about the surface alone; it’s about the frame it sits on.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with a waterfall island and wood cabinets

For a Silestone kitchen remodel in Fort Lauderdale, here’s the honest range breakdown:

  • Full kitchen remodel with Silestone counters, cabinets, and backsplash: $14,000 – $45,000
  • Countertop-only replacement (existing cabinet boxes stay): $2,000 – $6,500
  • Cabinet installation around existing Silestone layout: $4,000 – $13,000
  • Backsplash installation to match Silestone slab or tile: $800 – $2,500
  • Kitchen island addition with Silestone top: $3,000 – $10,000

What drives the quote: total slab square footage, edge profile (eased edge is standard; ogee or laminated bullnose adds fabrication time), how many seams and sink cutouts, and whether your Fort Lauderdale home has straight walls and level floors or the typical concrete slab shift we see in older neighborhoods like Victoria Park and Sailboat Bend. Every quote includes the slab, fabrication, delivery, install, seam fill, plumbing disconnect and reconnect, haul-away of the old counters, and a written price before we pick up a tool. We don’t change the number at the door. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the install: if a seam separates or an edge delaminates within a year, we’re back to fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely clean and inspect your Silestone counters yourself: wipe with a pH-neutral stone cleaner, check seam alignment, feel for chips, and look for moisture staining around the sink. You cannot safely replace a slab. Silestone panels run 300 to 400 pounds per full sheet and cutting a sink reveal wrong ruins a $900 slab in ten seconds. The saws, the seam-setting tools, the lifting clamps: this is not a weekend project and we’ve repaired enough homeowner attempts to say so plainly. If your issue is a cosmetic chip, fine, call a stone repair specialist for a resin fill. If the seam has opened or the slab has shifted or cracked, that’s a structural job. Call us at (754) 354-7423, tell us what you’re seeing, and we’ll tell you whether it’s a repair or a replacement before anyone schedules a visit.
