Mr-Glass Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Mr-Glass fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed, depending on the fence type, linear footage, and whether we’re replacing a failed panel or running a new line. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible panels, posts, and gate hardware on the truck, so most repairs and replacements are a single-visit job. The way most owners discover they need us: a post shifted after heavy rain, a panel cracked from a storm, or a gate that suddenly drags the ground and won’t close cleanly.

Fort Lauderdale’s salt air and summer storms do a number on fence hardware, and Mr-Glass fencing (glass and aluminum hybrid panels) is no exception. What wears first is almost always the post footing or the gate hinge assembly, not the glass itself. If your gate is binding or a panel is rattling, getting it addressed now prevents a cascading failure later.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass fence systems fall into two main lines: the frameless glass panel series (used around pools and patios) and the aluminum-framed glass infill series (used for perimeter runs and driveway gates). The critical measurement isn’t the glass thickness (that’s usually 1/2-inch tempered in both lines), it’s the post size and the channel depth. Mr-Glass uses a 4-inch and a 6-inch square post profile depending on the series, and the glass channel is either 5/8-inch or 3/4-inch. If you swap panels without matching the channel, the glass will sit loose, rattle in the wind, and eventually crack.

Where possible, we recommend OEM panels for Mr-Glass systems because the aluminum coating is spec’d to match the original finish. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist for the posts and gates, and we use them on retrofits where a discontinued panel isn’t available. We’ll match the existing coating (powder-coated or anodized) so a new panel doesn’t look like a patch job. One thing to check: if your original panel has a small etched code near the bottom corner, that identifies the series. If it’s gone, we measure the channel and post and match it from there.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after rain. Fort Lauderdale’s soil is sand mixed with periodic saturation, and a post without a concrete footer deeper than 24 inches will drift. A leaning post is the first sign the footing is undersized for our soil, and it won’t straighten itself.
  • Gate dragging or binding. Hinge sag is usually wear in the hinge pin itself, not a bent frame. If you have to lift the gate to latch it, the hinge assembly has reached the end of its service life.
  • Cracked or chipped glass panel. Tempered glass doesn’t crack on its own; it takes an impact (storm debris, a mower stone, a pressure-wash mistake). But in Fort Lauderdale’s heat, a small chip can spread through the panel edge within a season. Address chips quickly.
  • Loose channels or rattles in wind. The rubber gaskets inside the glass channels compress over time and dry out in salt air. Once they’re shot, the panel flexes, and the flexing accelerates wear at the post connection.
  • Discolored or peeling post coating. Salt air shortens the lifespan of any powder coat. Peeling at the base is cosmetic first, but once bare aluminum is exposed, the post will pit and eventually weaken at the anchor point.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A built-in window seat in a bay window

In Fort Lauderdale, a Mr-Glass-compatible fence installation runs $3,500 to $9,000, with the range driven by linear footage, how much of the old footing must be removed, and whether we’re matching an existing finish or starting fresh. Repair work (a single gate, one or two posts, a panel swap) lands at the lower end when the structure is sound; full perimeter replacements with a new gate run higher.

Every quote includes parts, labor, removal of the old section, concrete for new footings, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. That’s our guarantee: if the post shifts, the gate binds, or the panel rattles within a year of completion, we’re back at no charge. No separate charge for removal authorization, no “oh, we found a surprise” at the end of the job. The written price is the price.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things without touching a tool: see if the post wobbles at the base, look for cracked channel gaskets, and note where the gate rubs. That’s useful information to have before you call. But fence installation on a Mr-Glass system isn’t a casual weekend project. Glass panels are heavy, and lifting one into a channel with improper angle or support can pinch fingers or crack the edge. The deeper issue is the footing: a Fort Lauderdale post without proper hole depth is going to lean within a year or two, and then you’re paying twice.

We pull permits where required, set footings to the depth our soil actually needs, and leave the site cleaner than we found it. Call us at (754) 354-7423 if you want a real assessment before the storm season hits again.
