Cambria Roofing: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Cambria-compatible roofing parts and full component replacements in Fort Lauderdale typically run $400 – $1,800 installed depending on what failed and how far the damage spread. We stock the common failure points on our trucks and can usually diagnose and price the fix the same day we look at it. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a water stain on the ceiling after a heavy Florida downpour, granules collecting in the gutter, or a section of roof that looks “off” from the street.

Cambria’s roofing line is built around quartz-composite shingle technology that handles UV and humidity better than standard asphalt, but Fort Lauderdale’s salt air, afternoon storms, and 90-degree heat don’t forgive weak flashing or a bad seam. When a part lets go, it tends to let go at the edge: ridge caps, valley metal, or the sealant line where two planes meet.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria’s roofing materials fall into three main series: the Coastal series (rated for high-wind and salt-exposure zones, most common in Fort Lauderdale), the Classic series (standard quartz-composite profiles), and the Estate series (heavier profile, deeper shadow lines). Each series uses a different locking geometry and nail line, so a Classic-series shingle won’t seat correctly on an Estate-series roof.

To identify your part, check the underside of any loose shingle or the original packaging if you kept it. Cambria stamps a two-letter series code (CS, CL, ES) plus a batch number on the back of every shingle. If the stamp is worn off, the profile height is the tell: Coastal is 5/8″, Classic is 1/2″, Estate is 3/4″. For flashing, valley metal, and ridge caps, the gauge and finish matter more than the series. Cambria’s OEM flashing is 26-gauge galvanized steel with a proprietary color-matched coating, and on Fort Lauderdale roofs any aftermarket flashing needs that same coastal salt rating or it’ll start rusting within two years. We keep OEM Cambria parts in stock and use them by default unless a homeowner specifically asks about aftermarket equivalents to save cost.

Signs Your Cambria Roofing Is Failing

  • Granules in the gutters or at downspout bases. Cambria shingles shed fine quartz granules as the UV-stabilized coating breaks down. Some shedding is normal in year one; heavy granule loss after year five in Fort Lauderdale means the surface layer is failing and the shingle is losing its reflectivity and water resistance.
  • Curling or lifting at shingle edges. The adhesive strip that locks each shingle to the course below it breaks down faster in coastal humidity. If you can see shingle edges lifting from the ground on a clear day, water is already getting under them during storms.
  • Water stains on ceilings or attic sheathing after rain. This is rarely the shingles themselves. It’s usually failed flashing at a vent, chimney, or valley, or a nail line that shifted. In Fort Lauderdale’s afternoon downpours, a pinhole at a flashing seam becomes a visible stain fast.
  • Loose or missing ridge caps. Ridge caps take direct wind from every direction and they’re the first thing to go in a tropical storm. A missing cap on a Cambria roof exposes the nail line below it, and that nail line is not waterproof on its own.
  • A musty smell in the attic that won’t go away. That’s trapped moisture, and with Cambria’s tighter locking profile, a small leak can hold humidity inside the decking longer than an asphalt roof would. By the time you smell it, the underlayment has been wet for a while.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Fort Lauderdale Cambria roofing work, here’s what we quote and what drives the number:

  • Roof repair (flashing, small section): $400 – $1,800 installed, depending on square footage and whether we’re replacing the underlayment too.
  • Ridge cap replacement (per 20 linear feet): typically $600 – $1,200, which includes pulling the old caps, checking the nail line, and re-seating new OEM caps.
  • Valley metal or chimney flashing replacement: $500 – $1,500 depending on access. Fort Lauderdale’s two-story homes with steep pitches push the labor end up.
  • Full roof replacement (Cambria): $8,000 – $20,000, which is the range for most Fort Lauderdale single-family homes.

The largest cost driver is access. A single-story rancher with a shallow pitch is a half-day job. A two-story with a 10/12 pitch near the Intracoastal is a full day with safety rigging. Every quote includes the written price before work starts, a line-item breakdown of parts and labor, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we fix it for free within a year.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect a Cambria roof from the ground or a ladder placed against the gutter line. Check for lifted shingle edges, missing ridge caps, granules at the downspouts, and any visible flashing gaps. Do not walk the roof unless you know how to distribute weight on a quartz-composite surface, and do not attempt ridge cap or flashing repair yourself. Those components sit at the roofline’s highest stress points, and in Fort Lauderdale’s heat a slip on a 7/12 pitch is serious. Flashing work especially requires knowing how Cambria’s interlock tolerates expansion; a homeowner-sealed patch with the wrong sealant will trap water, not shed it. If you’ve found a failed part and want it matched and installed right, call (754) 354-7423 for a free estimate. We’ll tell you if it’s something you can realistically handle, and if it’s not, we’ll put a number on it before we pick up a tool.
