Mr-Glass Windows & Doors: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
If you have a Mr-Glass window or door with a failed part, we stock and install compatible hardware, glass packs, rollers, locks, and weather seals across Fort Lauderdale. Installed pricing on most Mr-Glass part replacements runs $250–$1,250 depending on the component and access, and we carry the fast-moving items on our trucks so a single visit usually gets you sorted. The way most homeowners find us is simple: a sliding door that suddenly drags, a lock that no longer catches, or condensation that won’t clear between panes. They’ve lived with it for weeks, then it fails on a humid July afternoon when the AC is working double-time, and suddenly it’s urgent.
Sawyer Remodel Fort Lauderdale is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Mr-Glass. What we do is keep a working inventory of the parts that fail most often in South Florida’s salt air and heat, and we install them the same way we’d want them installed in our own homes. That means we check the surrounding hardware while we’re in there, not just the one piece that broke.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass has produced several window and door lines over the years, and the parts are not always interchangeable across series. The biggest compatibility gotcha we see is on sliding door rollers: the original Mr-Glass units used both 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ diameter wheels depending on the frame depth, and putting a 1-1/2″ roller into a track milled for 1-1/4″ will bind within a week. We measure the old roller before anything gets ordered. The same discipline applies to window balances, which came in multiple tension ratings even within the same window width.
To identify your part, look for a small etched or printed code on the frame’s interior edge or on the sash. Most Mr-Glass windows built in the last 15 years carry a unit sticker on the top of the sash. If that sticker is gone, we cross-reference by measuring the glass thickness and the sash profile. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket call: for seals, glazing, and friction hardware, quality aftermarket parts from the same regional supply houses often match or beat OEM on price with no drop in lifespan. For rollers, balances, and multi-point lock set, we recommend OEM where available because the geometry is unforgiving. We carry both and will tell you which is right for your unit before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or feels like it’s grinding. The ball bearings inside the rollers have gone flat or rusted out from humidity and salt air. Fort Lauderdale’s coastal moisture accelerates this faster than inland Florida, and once one wheel seizes, the remaining wheels take the load and fail in sequence.
- You can see sunlight or feel a draft around the sash. The compression weather seal has taken a set and lost its spring, or the interlock has shifted. South Florida homes lose measurable AC through this gap, and it only gets worse as the seal hardens from heat cycling.
- Condensation or haze between the panes. The IGU seal has failed. Once the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated, no amount of Florida sun burns it off. This is a glass pack replacement, not a cleaning issue.
- The lock catch partially engages but doesn’t hold firmly. The multipoint hook has worn or the keep bar has slipped out of alignment by a few millimeters. It feels like a minor annoyance, but a sliding door that doesn’t seat fully is also defeating your hurricane protection plan.
- The window sash drops when you let go of it. The balance spring or block-and-tackle assembly has failed. You can muscle the window open, but the moment you release it, the sash slams down. That’s not normal, and it’s dangerous for kids and fingers.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Mr-Glass work in Fort Lauderdale, here’s where the numbers land.
- Sliding door roller replacement: $250–$450 installed, including both rollers, track cleaning, and adjustment
- Window balance replacement: $150–$350 per window, including the balance pair and sash alignment
- Weather seal replacement: $120–$300 per door or window, including seal material matched to the original profile
- IGU glass pack replacement: $350–$900 per insulated unit, depending on size and low-E coating
- Lock and multipoint hardware: $180–$500, including strike plate adjustment and lube
The range exists because frame sizes vary and some older Mr-Glass installs require more care getting panels out of the track. We write the price before any work starts, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a part we installed fails within a year, we make it right at no cost to you. That’s not a warranty you have to ask for. That’s the deal.
DIY or Call Us?
If your door is drafty or your lock feels loose, you can safely check two things: whether the rollers are visibly seized by looking at the bottom of the door panel, and whether the weather seal is cracked or flattened anywhere along its run. Those checks cost you nothing and tell us a lot over the phone. What you should not do is remove a sliding door panel by yourself to swap rollers. A glass panel with the frame attached weighs 90 to 180 pounds depending on the unit, and Fort Lauderdale’s older homes often have out-of-square tracks where the panel has settled into a groove. The panel tilts backward during removal, and it takes one hard twist to blow the glass or pull a shoulder. Mr-Glass doors from the mid-2000s were built with heavier tempering on the moving panel, which makes them tougher but also heavier. We’d rather come out and do it safely with the right lift and shims than read about a 911 call.
If you’re reasonably handy, replacing a cracked latch handle on a window is within reason. If the problem involves glass, balances, or anything under tension, call us at (754) 354-7423 and Luca Romano or one of our techs will walk you through what you’re actually looking at before we ever schedule the visit.
FAQs

Figure 15 to 20 years for the frame and insulated glass on most Mr-Glass lines, but moving hardware like rollers, balances, and seals typically needs work at the 8 to 12 year mark in Fort Lauderdale’s humidity and salt air. Coastal homes near the Intracoastal see that timeline compress by a few years. Call (754) 354-7423 for an honest assessment of your specific unit.
It depends on the part. Rollers, balances, seals, and lock hardware are replaceable components and we replace them every week in Fort Lauderdale. A failed glass seal is not repairable: if you see haze between panes, the IGU comes out as one unit. We’ll tell you which camp your problem falls in before you spend anything.
Most roller, balance, seal, and lock swaps take 60 to 90 minutes per unit once we’re on site. Glass pack replacements typically run a few hours because the old unit has to be carefully cut out, the glazing bed cleaned, and the new IGU set and sealed. We’ll have the part on the truck or ordered before we show up, so you’re never waiting on a second trip for common items.
We carry the common rollers in both 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ diameters, standard balances in the most common tension ratings, compression weather seal profiles, and multipoint lock keep bars. Glass packs are ordered per size and coating, usually a three to five business day lead in Fort Lauderdale. We also keep parts for KraftMaid cabinets, Cambria and Silestone countertop accessories, and other brands on our service routes, though this page focuses specifically on Mr-Glass.
If you live in Fort Lauderdale and your Mr-Glass window or door is dragging, fogging, or not locking tight, don’t wait until it fails completely during the next storm watch. Call (754) 354-7423 for a free estimate on the part and the install. We answer the phone, we show up when we say we will, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
